In March 2024, with its profound technical background and professional service team, FST successfully completed the delivery and acceptance of three sets of wellhead control panels for ADNOC project (EPC FOR ASAB GAS INJECTION TRUNK LINE-2 RELOCATION PROJECT WHCP). This project is for the wellsite modular skid of oil and gas fields, ensuring that all oil and gas wells have remote monitoring and control capabilities. Both on-site instruments and remote control systems meet the high standard design specifications of ADNOC's digital oilfield, effectively improving production safety and operability, and reducing production maintenance costs. This major achievement not only highlights FST's outstanding strength in the technical field, but also helps ADNOC achieve a double improvement in production efficiency and operational management level.
The project is located in the ASAB gas field in Abu Dhabi. As a country rich in oil resources, the successful application of FST's technological solutions has played a positive role in improving the production efficiency of ADNOC's oil production, ensuring production safety and promoting the sustainable development of the local energy industry.
Since the start of the project in April 2023, the FST team has been fully engaged in the conceptual design, material procurement, product manufacturing, testing and assembly. After continuous communication and multiple confirmations with ADNOC, the delivery of three sets of wellhead control panels was completed in September 2023. This was followed by the overall acceptance of the project in March 2024, which was highly praised by the customer.
The wellhead control panel (WHCP) consists of a hydraulic control unit (HPU) and a PLC-based logic system, which is used for comprehensive control of wellhead data monitoring, remote data transmission, flow control, valve opening and closing, etc. The wellhead safety control system has received SIL3 general safety certification. HPU and PLC, as independent units, are interconnected inside the cabinet through MCT, achieving effective control of downhole safety valves and surface safety valves. This system has advanced wellhead safety control functions such as local control, remote control and on-site ESD/PSD automatic shutdown, and integrates on-site fire and gas safety control.
The system has low power consumption, high safety valve hydraulic control pressure accuracy, fast well closure response time, accurate and reliable well closure sequence control, safe pressure relief, and no contamination during well closure, providing a strong guarantee for safe oilfield production. The system is equipped with two 32L accumulators to ensure operation under stable pressure range. The accumulators meet ASME U Stamp Certification. Electromagnetic valves and electrical instruments meet ATEX or IECEx Explosion-proof Qualification Certificate.
When the FST engineering team first arrived at the site in March 2024, they went through a series of complicated and rigorous entry procedures and document submissions before being able to enter the equipment installation site. As agreed with ADNOC, they quickly held a pre-construction meeting to confirm the workload and implementation plan. Then, with the joint efforts of our three local FST engineers and ADNOC engineers, we successfully completed the connection between the wellhead control panel and equipment such as valves, manifolds, and field instruments, and tested the equipment functions one by one. Despite being in a foreign country, our engineers and ADNOC staff quickly adapted to each other's work habits and efficiently completed the acceptance preparation work in just two days, demonstrating extraordinary adaptability and cooperation.
On the project IFAT, a team of dozens of technical engineers from ADNOC inspected the equipment in detail. Our engineers provided detailed explanations and introductions on the composition, operation and use of the equipment, which were highly appreciated by the ADNOC acceptance specialists. One ADNOC engineer said in Chinese, “I really like China's high technology.”
However, we also encountered some challenges. For example, ADNOC stated that the gauge measurement units we use do not conform to local practice, in which the SI pressure units should be replaced with barometric unit. Despite the same functionality of pressure measure, we still agree to replace the gauges for the convenience of our client. Thanks to our agile supply chain system and strong support from our partners, we rapidly prepared instruments and parts ready to meet the local requirements in Dubai. The original rectification cycle should have been four weeks, but it took us only three days to procure and rectify the parts, and such high work efficiency also amazed ADNOC.
The successful acceptance of this project not only showcases FST's advanced technology in wellhead control panels, but also enhances the company's competitiveness in the international market. At the same time, it lays a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation between FST and ADNOC. In addition, this successful case has set a benchmark for the industry and promoted innovation and development of wellhead control panel technology.
Quality builds trust, and we understand that every detail is related to customer expectations and trust. That is why we rigorously control quality throughout the production process to ensure that every set of equipment meets the highest standards. Technology leads the future, and the FST team will continue to uphold the spirit of innovation, continuously research and develop new technologies and products, and contribute more to the global energy industry. We sincerely thank ADNOC for their confidence and support in FST. We firmly believe that with the joint efforts of both parties, the cooperation between FST and ADNOC will become closer and deeper, and together we will create a better future!
